Fastest in the West: Ferrari Challenge Returns to Texas

AUSTIN, Texas – “Everything Is Bigger In Texas,” and in that same spirit, the Prancing Horse has chosen Austin, Texas to host the monumental Ferrari Racing Days event, coupled with the third round of Ferrari Challenge North America.

Thousands of sports car fans are set to descend on Circuit of The Americas (COTA), the renowned motorsport venue that has seen Ferrari compete in series ranging from Formula One, the FIA World Endurance Championship, SRO Motorsports, and more.

And this weekend, racegoers will be treated to a mix of all series with Ferrari Racing Days.

Sixty Ferrari 296 Challenge will lap the 3.4-mile circuit as part of the third doubleheader of 2026 for Ferrari Challenge North America. The series previously ran at The Thermal Club in March and at Sebring International Raceway in April.

COTA has been a familiar stop on the Ferrari Challenge calendar, having hosted the single-make program 11 times in the last 13 years.

Another 50 Ferraris are entered amongst the supporting Club Challenge and Club Competizioni GT programs, featuring 296 and 488 Challenge racecars in addition to a variety of Ferrari 296 GT3s and 488 GTEs.

And as a special addition to the weekend, iconic racecars from the F1 Clienti, Sport Prototipi Clienti (SPC) and XX Programme will take turns around the Texas track.

Fans will spot Formula One cars from 1998 through 2018 in the former category, and nearly two dozen XX Programme cars including the Ferrari FXX Evo, 599XX Evo and FXXK Evo. Meanwhile, SPC will delight fans with an up-close glimpse of the 499P Modificata – representing the three-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winning prototype, including the race’s 100th anniversary, and returning the 499P to the site of its historic 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship Lone Star Le Mans victory.

Lone Star State Locals.

A quartet of Texas teams in Ferrari Challenge North America are representing the Lone Star State this weekend at COTA.

Just down the road, Ferrari of Austin, is entered with Jay Logan in the Trofeo Pirelli Am class who placed fourth in the class championship standing last season.

Furthermore, Ferrari of San Antonio and Ferrari of Houston are respectively located within 90 minutes and two-and-a-half hours of COTA. Brad Evans with Ferrari of San Antonio forwent the most recent Coppa Shell rounds at Sebring International Raceway in April, but returns on the heels of a fifth-place finish at The Thermal Club in March.

Meanwhile, fellow Coppa Shell driver Louis Flory and his teammate Bernard Gomez in Coppa Shell Am will run for the Houston-based dealer. Flory did not compete at COTA in 2024, but searches for his first win in 2026 after collecting three in 2025. Gomez had three podiums of his own last season and finished sixth at COTA in 2024.

The farthest dealership north is Ferrari Dallas, located three-and-a-half hours from Austin, but fields the most entries among Texas dealers. The father-son pairing of Robert and Ethan McWilliams return in Trofeo Pirelli Am and Trofeo Pirelli, respectively, and Tim Duit joins in Coppa Shell Am.

Only the elder McWilliams ran at COTA in 2024, finishing on the podium, while Ethan made his series debut in 2025 with two podiums by the year’s end. This weekend marks their re-entry to Ferrari Challenge in 2026, but Duit currently sits third in the Coppa Shell Am standings following two podiums through four races thus far.
