DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Robert Wickens will return to DXDT Racing for the 2026 sprint rounds of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, driving the No. 36 Wealthspire/Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R. Wickens will share driving duties with Mason Filippi as the pairing reunites under the DXDT banner for a focused five-race campaign.
Wickens return begins at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, the site of his landmark IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship debut in 2025. Driving a street circuit for the first time with hand controls, Wickens set the lap on opening day for the GTD class, on what was also his first day contesting the Corvette Z06 GT3.R. He went on to qualify eighth and, despite an in-race incident, completed his debut weekend with a 15th-place finish.
“I can’t wait to get back in the Corvette Z06 GT3-R in a couple weeks. Long Beach is always such a special event, and we showed a lot of potential last year. I hope we can build on that experience and be even stronger,” said Robert Wickens. “The mission is to continue to gain valuable experience with the end goal of being able to compete in a full season in 2027, and ultimately contest for a championship. I won’t stop until I have exhausted every avenue, and I know my partners Bosch and GM will do everything they can to help me achieve my goals and ambitions.”
Building momentum through the 2025 season, Wickens established himself as a front-running GTD contender. He started inside the top five in three of five sprint events, highlighted by a career-best third-place qualifying effort in front of his native fans at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Wickens secured three top 10 finishes, with a season-best result of fourth at CTMP.
“Long Beach is going to be an exciting event for DXDT Racing,” said Bryan Sellers, team manager, DXDT Racing. “We’re thrilled to welcome Robert back and debut our new Wealthspire livery. This event is especially meaningful for us, as it’s where we began this journey with Rob last year. He’s a once-in-a-lifetime talent, and we truly believe we’re building something special here at DXDT. We’re excited to carry that momentum through this season, with a clear focus on the future. The pairing of Rob and Mason gives us a lineup capable of contending for wins at every track.”
Filippi and Wickens share a deep competitive history, having raced within the same Hyundai stable at Bryan Herta Autosport from 2022 through 2024 in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge. While they were never co-drivers during that period, the two developed a strong mutual respect as rivals and teammates within the broader program. Their partnership was further solidified at the 2025 Nürburgring 24 Hours, where they co-drove to a second-place class finish—marking the best result ever achieved by a driver using hand controls in the iconic endurance race.
The 2026 IMSA sprint campaign will see the No. 36 Corvette Z06 GT3.R compete on some of North America’s most demanding circuits, with Wickens continuing to push both competitive and technological boundaries in GTD racing. Central to that effort is his state-of-the-art hand control and braking system, developed by Bosch. The integration of the system, a collaboration between industry leaders Bosch, GM and Pratt Miller, allows Wickens to control acceleration, braking, and gear shifting with his hands.
The Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach kicks off Friday, April 17, 2026, with the 100-minute IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Challenge race on Saturday, April 18th at 1:05pm PST.
