Mercedes-AMG Reveals New GT3, Black Series

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Mercedes-AMG has taken the wraps off two new models, both of which follow on from the CONCEPT AMG GT TRACK SPORT from 2025.

The concept car forms the basis for the new Mercedes‑AMG GT3 and the future Mercedes‑AMG GT Black Series, which expands Mercedes-AMG’s track family.

The road-legal variant of the concept car serves as a homologation model for the GT3 successor. The Mercedes-AMG GT3 currently racing in IMSA has been present for several years, with the Evo version coming out in 2020 and having been significantly successful in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s Grand Touring Daytona (GTD) class, most frequently with Winward Racing.

Michael Schiebe, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, Production, Quality & Supply Chain Management, and Chairman of the Management Board of Mercedes-AMG GmbH said in a release:

“We are developing the most extreme Black Series ever. At the same time, we want to set the next record-breaker in motorsport with the future GT3.

“The foundation for this is the CONCEPT AMG GT TRACK SPORT – a technology demonstrator that was more than just a concept from the very start. It is our unambiguous commitment to maximum performance, a promise for the racetrack and the road alike.

“At AMG, we develop vehicles to exceed expectations. And that is exactly what the future Black Series and the new GT3 will do.”

Mercedes-AMG also outlined these details of the new cars:

Since October 2025, the prototype – camouflaged with yellow-green and red accents – has been undergoing extensive dynamic testing on test tracks and racetracks.

In addition to the in-house development track in Immendingen, this has included Bilster Berg, Portimão and Monteblanco.

With the start of the testing phase on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, the next stage of development is now underway.

Also the colors are now clearly defined: red will in future represent the Mercedes‑AMG GT3 as a central element of the Mercedes‑AMG Motorsport color scheme, whilst yellow-green will represent the Mercedes‑AMG GT Black Series.

The Mercedes‑AMG GT3 marks the logical evolution of Mercedes‑AMG’s successful Customer Racing Programme.

The foundations for the brand’s Customer Racing commitment were laid in 2010. The first full racing season followed in 2011 with the Mercedes‑Benz SLS AMG GT3.

This success story has been consistently continued with the Mercedes‑AMG GT3 from 2016 and the Evo version from 2020.

The decision to develop a successor to the GT3 led to the establishment of Affalterbach Racing GmbH – a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mercedes‑AMG – which, together with Mercedes‑AMG Motorsport, is responsible for the development and construction of the new vehicle.

The new GT3 is currently in an intensive development phase. The aim is to continue the successful Customer Racing legacy whilst setting new standards in performance, safety and competitiveness.

Christoph Sagemüller, Head of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport, said: “With the unveiling of the concept, we can now officially name the new Mercedes‑AMG GT3, with which we aim to continue the success story in Customer Racing for Mercedes‑AMG Motorsport.

“Our goal is to once again present a vehicle that sets the benchmark. We have already gained important insights from the initial tests. We are now entering the next phase of development and will also be testing on racetracks relevant to GT Sport.”

Further details on both vehicles will be announced at a later date, although Mercedes-AMG released the teaser video in accordance with the launch:
