BGB Plans Additional IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Entry for 2026 Daytona Opener

Team Announces Support Opportunities for IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – BGB Motorsports is planning to support a second IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge entry for the 2026 four-hour race at Daytona International Speedway. The locally based Porsche outfit’s 2026 plans present an opportunity to contest the biggest event of the season via a one-off entry. IMSA’s opening round at Daytona International Speedway will be the final chapter in the history books for the Porsche 718 GT4 RS CS (Cayman) race cars competing in the VP Racing SportsCar Challenge and IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Series events, so BGB is planning a second Porsche entry with a second pit crew to try and give the Cayman a proper farewell!

“We have gotten inquiries from Porsche GT4 RS owners looking to run the Cayman Daytona ‘swan song’ and now we can. GT4 race cars these days are rather versatile with many homes; our drivers can get started in the International GT Series and then advance to either the Porsche Sprint Challenge North America Series or even further to the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Series or VP Racing SportsCar Challenge Series paddocks,” said team owner John Tecce.

The recently announced 2026 International GT schedule presents an opportunity for the Florida-based outfit to develop programs of hand chosen events that suit the future race craft development goals of existing Cayman GT4 Clubsport customers. BGB will support Joe Rizzo and Thomas Bigony for their third season together during the 2026 IGT season and the effort will be led by Driver Coach and Team Manger Spencer Pumpelly.

“Spencer has worked hard to create a tailor-made program featuring half a dozen events at our favorite venues that we will attend with testing opportunities that will precede each event. More often than not we have to test at one place and race at another – this allows him to maintain focus on his students that are attending the Spencer Pumpelly School for Cayman Drivers!”
