Mustang Challenge travels to Charlotte, North Carolina this weekend for the final event of the 2025 season. The weekend marks the first time the series will race alongside the NASCAR Cup Series as Mustang Challenge makes its debut at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL.
A total of 42 Mustangs will be on track around the globe with Ford Racing. There will be 37 Mustangs on the Charlotte road course layout this weekend, with 20 Mustang Dark Horse R race cars competing in IMSA-sanctioned Mustang Challenge and 17 Mustang Dark Horses racing in the NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series. Three Mustang GT3s will be racing in ADAC GT Masters at the Hockenheim Ring, and two Mustang GT3s will take on the Hockenheim Ring in DTM.
Dark Horse Legends Competitors in a Fierce Battle for the Championship
The battle is on for the Dark Horse Legends championship. Alex Bachoura and Zachry Lee are deadlocked at the top of the rankings with 3,100 points, and Alfonso Diaz in third is trailing by only 70 points. With a maximum of 350 points available in each race, the fight for the championship in the Legends class will go all the way to the final checkered flag of the season. All three drivers in the championship fight have shown they have what it takes to win races in the competitive Legends class, each scoring multiple race victories this season. Bachoura leads the class with six wins, followed by Diaz (three) and Lee (two).
Robert Noaker Carrying Momentum from Podium in Mustang GT4 Debut
After clinching his second Dark Horse Championship in Mustang Challenge at the Circuit of The Americas, Robert Noaker prepared for a new challenge: ascending the Mustang ladder and making his GT4 racing debut. Noaker got his first chance to compete in the Mustang GT4 on September 20 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, racing in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race with KohR Motorsports. He shared the No. 60 Ford with Cameron McLeod, a driver who he had battled against in the Mustang Challenge Le Mans Invitational. Noaker and McLeod proved to be a strong pairing, and the duo scored a third-place finish. Noaker will use the momentum from his podium finish to try and wrap up his impressive Mustang Challenge season with two more victories.
Two Drivers Making Points-Paying Mustang Challenge Debut
Two drivers will enter their first points-paying Mustang Challenge round this weekend at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL, both racing for Robert Noaker Racing. In the Dark Horse class, 15-time SCCA National Champion Andrew Aquilante will make his first ever Mustang Challenge start in the No. 32 Mustang Dark Horse R. In the Dark Horse Legends Class, Dan McKeever is set to make his first start in a points-paying Mustang Challenge event after competing in the Le Mans Invitational in June. McKeever had a strong first outing in the No. 91 Mustang Dark Horse R during the Le Mans Invitational, earning a second place finish in race one.
