BROWNSBURG, Indiana – Norman Nato will join the No. 40 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac V-Series.R lineup for Motul Petit Le Mans, in what will mark his first IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship start in seven seasons.
Nato is the third different third driver alongside Jordan Taylor and Louis Deletraz in the three IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup races in which the team has fielded three drivers, after Kamui Kobayashi (Rolex 24 At Daytona) and Brendon Hartley (Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring) previously filled the spot.
Nato has raced in a second Cadillac Racing program this year with Will Stevens, the Hertz Cadillac Team Jota entry in the FIA World Endurance Championship. The duo combined to lead a Cadillac 1-2 finish at the 6 Hours of São Paulo in July.
The French-born, Andorra resident’s only past IMSA start came at in 2018 – also at Motul Petit Le Mans – aboard a Patron ESM Nissan DPi in that team’s last race. Nato and Stevens, who will again share the No. 10 Cadillac with Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque, will test at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta on September 2 and 3 in preparation for the race.
“Really excited to be joining WTR for Petit Le Mans at the wheel of the Cadillac V-Series.R,” Nato said. “Such an honor to drive for such an iconic team and with Jordan and Louis. They will guide me to adapt as quickly as possible to this new environment and focus on performance to deliver the best.
“Been racing at Petit now quite some time ago in 2018 for the first time. I really enjoyed the track; very challenging, which will make the race very exciting. The main target always remains to finish on top. We will work and prepare as best as possible to achieve our common goals with the team.
“The test in September will be important for me to get comfortable in the car, seat fitting-wise first and then to adapt to the team and my teammates. I quite know the car now as I race with the Cadillac V-Series in WEC with Hertz Team JOTA. My job will be to adapt to the team as quickly as possible to be able to deliver the best pace I can to help the team.”
Wayne Taylor, Team Owner, added: “Delighted to have Will back on board and to welcome Norman to our team for Petit Le Mans. It is great to have the drivers in place and ready to attend the Road Atlanta test in early September. As Cadillac factory drivers, they will both be a great addition to our effort at Petit.”
