The Brit Rounds out the Lineup for the Team’s Two-Car Effort Next Season
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Fresh off his Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2) victory in Saturday’s Motul Petit Le Mans, Ben Hanley has been named to drive alongside Ben Keating in a United Autosports LMP2 in the 2024 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.
Hanley (at right in above photo) teamed with George Kurtz and Nolan Siegel in the No. 04 Crowdstrike Racing by APR ORECA LMP2 07 to win the 2023 finale at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. It marked Hanley’s fourth career WeatherTech Championship victory, all coming in LMP2, including the 2020 Rolex 24 At Daytona.
Hanley and Kurtz finished second in the LMP2 season standings to Keating and Paul-Loup Chatin, who claimed the class crown in the No. 52 PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports ORECA. Keating was previously announced to join United Autosports in 2024 as the team embarks on a two-car full-season effort in LMP2. Alex Quinn, the endurance-race driver with Keating and Chatin at PR1 Mathiasen, moves into the same role with Keating and Hanley at United Autosports next season.
Hanley isn’t new to United Autosports, having driven for the team in three FIA World Endurance Championship events this season.
“It’s great to be part of United Autosports’ first full season in IMSA next year,” Hanley said. “I had a great feeling with the team in the few races I did this year, and I’m really excited to see what we can achieve in 2024.”
United Autosports’ second LMP2 will feature Dan Goldburg and Paul di Resta as the full-season drivers, with Marino Sato joining for the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup events. Team CEO Richard Dean is pleased to add Hanley to the first-car lineup.
“Ben is a quality professional with a ton of IMSA and LMP experience,” Dean said. “We have wanted to work with Ben for quite some time now and we have had him in a United car sporadically this year with great success. We now have the chance to turn that into a full season working together alongside Ben Keating and Alex Quinn. This is a formidable lineup and underlines how seriously we are taking our full-season IMSA program next year.”
