IMSA’s commitment to environmentally responsible competition is real and requires collective effort among all stakeholders and participants. During the Rolex 24 at Daytona last weekend, we witnessed tangible progress toward our IMSA Sustainability initiatives. Together with our partners, our season opener demonstrated sustainable competition with an increasing percentage of renewable materials in our top category race fuel, significantly reduced tire allocations, deployment of advanced battery technology with a new generation of power units, and use of solar energy to power the IMSA paddock.
Sportscar racing has shown over the years its powerful impact on consumer behaviors. Demonstrating a shift toward sustainability is a responsibility we take very seriously. It’s incumbent on my team and me to ensure we use the IMSA platform to shape a better future by showcasing our partners’ latest technology and creating advocacy amongst our global fan base.
It’s about incremental steps, hybrid-powered race cars, consumables made from renewable materials (Tires, Fuel), and harnessing sunlight to power our paddock infrastructure.
The Konica Minolta Business Center, where we host many corporate guests, is a prime example of how we harness solar power to heat and cool our on-site infrastructure. This approach complements the progress we are making on the racetrack with our partners Bosch, Michelin, and VP Racing Fuels.
Our future transcends racing; it’s about representing our sport as innovators in sustainability. The IMSA platform continually seeks opportunities for efficiency gains and environmental progress. We welcome partnerships with organizations sharing similar values and spirit to help shape a better future.
We can all win and prosper if we work together to influence how we can solve these long-term challenges.
I hope to see you at the race track very soon-
John
