DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – He’s a reigning Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America champion returning to race for the first time this season. He’ll be sharing a car with another 2022 series champion, and they’ll be aiming to knock off the driver he secured last year’s title with.

Welcome to Bryson Lew’s racing world.

Lew is paired in this week’s doubleheader round at Road America with Shehan Chandrasoma in the No. 20 TPC Racing, Lamborghini Austin entry for the single-make series featuring Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo Evo2 cars. They’re competing in the Pro-Am class that Lew conquered last season with John “JCD” Dubets as his co-driver in the No. 46 Precision Performance Motorsports, Lamborghini Palm Beach Huracán.

Dubets is back in the No. 46 this year with Tom Capizzi as his co-driver, and they’ve won three of the first four races of the season. Chandrasoma, who claimed the 2022 Am class crown, is third in the Pro-Am standings, 14 points behind the leaders and looking to rally. Lew is eager to help, even if it’s against his friend and former teammate.

“It’ll be cool because I’m really close to my co-driver from last year (Dubets), so it would be like a friendly kind of intense competition,” Lew said. “I’m excited. It’s just cool to even be able to be racing against such high-caliber guys.

“I’m excited to be driving with Shehan,” Lew added. “He’s obviously earned his way up and won the Am championship last year. He’s looking to win some more races this year and hopefully I can help them out with that.”

Lew hasn’t raced in any IMSA series this year as the 2024-25 IMSA Diverse Driver Development Scholarship candidate has focused on putting together a plan for next season. He said the deal to race at Road America came together in the past week with assistance from new sponsor Renegade Manufacturing Group. He also thanked the Chandrasoma family for “trusting me” to share the car with Shehan.

“I’ve been nonstop itching to get back into the seat,” Lew admitted. “The Super Trofeo paddock is a great group of people so I’m fortunate to be able to even be doing a race this year. … I’m putting my all into it and hopefully it pays off.”

As Lew looks to help Chandrasoma close the Pro-Am points gap, battles continue in the other three Super Trofeo classes. Danny Formal and Kyle Marcelli have been unbeatable in the Pro class, winning all four races in the No. 1 Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Autosport, Lamborghini Palm Beach Huracán as they aim for back-to-back championships. They lead the class by 19 points over Giano Taurino and Lucas Petersson (TR3 Racing, Lamborghini Palm Beach Huracán).

The Am class had the closest battle, with David Staab (No. 48 Precision Performance Motorsports, Lamborghini Palm Beach Huracán) only three points ahead of teammates Anthony McIntosh and Glenn McGee (No. 69 PPM, Lamborghini Palm Beach Huracán). Mark Wilgus (No. 50 Forte Racing Powered by US RaceTronics, Lamborghini Beverly Hills Huracán), winner of three LBCup races thus far, is 14 points ahead of Fred Roberts (No. 89 NTE Sport, Lamborghini Dallas Huracán).

On the Road America weekend schedule for Super Trofeo are two Friday practices, with qualifying at 11:20 a.m. ET Saturday. Race 1 rolls off at 4:50 p.m. that afternoon, with Race 2 at 2:35 p.m. Sunday. Both races stream live on IMSA.com/TVLive and Peacock.
