Solid Rolex 24 Lineup for Risi Competizione Ferrari; CarBahn with Peregrine Fills Rolex 24 Lineup

By Mark Robinson

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The popular red Ferrari of Risi Competizione will be back to take on the rigors of the Rolex 24 At Daytona again this year with a proven driver lineup.

Drivers James Calado, Alessandro Pier Guidi, Davide Rigon and Daniel Serra will pilot the new Evo version No. 62 Ferrari 488 GT3 in the all-new GTD PRO class of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The drivers are no strangers to “prancing horse” success in WeatherTech Championship endurance races. Calado, Pier Guidi and Serra combined to win the 2019 Motul Petit Le Mans for Risi Competizione. Pier Guidi won the 2014 Rolex 24 in a Ferrari, Calado the 2016 Petit Le Mans in a Risi Ferrari and Serra the 2018 Petit Le Mans in a Ferrari.

“We will be competing in this year’s Rolex 24 with the new Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo GTD PRO entry,” said Giuseppe Risi, team principal for the Texas-based team. “The 24 Hours of Daytona is always on my mind as a race for the team to compete for a victory. This year we have … a strong lineup again of Ferrari Competizioni GT factory drivers with Calado, Pier Guidi, Rigon and Serra.

“They all are talented drivers, know the car well and compete regularly at the highest level of racing on a global scale. James and Ale won both the FIA WEC championship and Le Mans last year, so they are at the top of the sport. Davide and Daniel continue to add success to the Ferrari name as well. With the solid driver lineup and always prepared race team, we’re ready to contend for victory at Daytona later this month.”

CarBahn with Peregrine Racing Fills Rolex 24 Lineup

CarBahn with Peregrine Racing completed its lineup for the Rolex 24 by adding 2020 race winner Corey Lewis and Lamborghini factory driver Sandy Mitchell to team with full-season drivers Jeff Westphal and Robert Megennis in the No. 39 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO. Lewis will remain with the team for all four IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup races this season.

Lewis, a Lamborghini development driver, had four career WeatherTech Championship wins and drove a Paul Miller Racing Lamborghini last year in the endurance races, including a third-place finish in the Rolex 24. He was part of PMR’s Michelin Endurance Cup championship in 2020.

Mitchell, the 21-year-old Scot, has risen through the Lamborghini driver ranks and became the youngest overall champion in British GT3 history in 2020.

“I am very excited to be driving for Peregrine Racing for all the Michelin Endurance Cup rounds of the IMSA championship,” Lewis said. “The team had a strong debut season last year and I expect more of the same in the future. I really believe we have a strong driver pairing that can get the job done throughout the year. I am ready to hit the ground running with Jeff, Rob and Sandy at Daytona in just a few short weeks!”
