Imsa Michelin Pilot Challenge

CarBahn Motorsports with Peregrine Racing off to Road America

CarBahn Motorsports with Peregrine Racing heads to Road America with the IMSA MICHELIN Pilot Challenge championship lead.

Near identical to the teams 2219 championship run, the No. 39 Audi R8 GT4 EVO roles off the trailer at Road America with the overall lead in the Grand Sport class. Drivers Tyler McQuarrie, Danville, and Jeff Westphal, San Mateo, launched themselves into first place, with a five-point lead, after a dominant weekend at Sebring International Raceway. They look to repeat their successes and build a gap in the points standings this weekend at the Road America 120, July 31-August 1.

CarBahn Motorsports with Peregrine Racing welcomes backs the No. 93 Audi R8 GT4 for its second race of the season. The No. 93 is piloted by the driver pairing of Mark Siegel and Tom Dyer. This will serve as Siegel’s first IMSA MICHELIN Pilot Challenge race at Road America promising a fun and exciting weekend for all involved.

The 4.048-mile, 14 Turn track in Plymouth, Wisconsin, is known across the nation for being technical and unforgiving. Serving as the longest track in North America, competitors’ cars with high straight-line speed tend to have the upper hand at Road America. The drivers of the No. 39 and the No. 93 will have to push their machine to its limits to compete. The team must rely on the car’s downforce to take the high speed, sweeping turns with ease in order to further expand its championship lead.

In order to succeed the crew and drivers must also be in sync, working together as one well-oiled machine. The long hiatus in the season has caused many teams to fall victim to menial mistakes on the track or in pit lane costing them the race. CarBahn Motorsports with Peregrine Racing has been practicing perfection for years and is determined to uphold that standard.

Round 3 of IMSA MICHELIN Pilot Challenge kicks off Friday, July 31 at Road America. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the weekend once more features a condensed schedule with Practice 1 at 10:45 a.m. CT and Practice 2 at 2:15 p.m. The team returns to the track Saturday, August 1 for Qualifying at 8:20 a.m. and the Road America 120 at 3:45 p.m. Watch the race live on the NBC Sports Gold TrackPass. The race will re-air on NBCSN Saturday, August 15 at 12:00 a.m. ET. Road America in conjunction with IMSA has agreed to allow a limited number of fans into the event. Jeff Westphal, Driver of the No. 39 CarBahn Motorsports with Peregrine Racing Audi R8 GT4 EVO
“We are going to need to be ultra-consistent and big picture-oriented based on the fact that the schedule is now compressed,” Westphal said. “It means mistakes carry bigger penalties. I think being clean in the races will be paramount. Heading toward Road America I have great faith in the team, car and my teammate Tyler. Realistically Road America isn’t a track that suits the strengths of our Audi R8 GT4 EVO, however, it is a track that Tyler and I love and there is something to be said for that.  I’m never upset about one of my favorite circuits in the USA. My favorite part of road America is heading into Canada corner.  Our R8 is strong on the brakes, and that bent braking zone test everyone and their machine trying to reign the car down from 150 mph.”
