Scuderia Corsa Heads Home

Scuderia Corsa and the No. 63 WeatherTech Ferrari is set to celebrate a homecoming Sept. 13-15 at the penultimate IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship event of the 2019 season.
WeatherTech Racing driver Cooper MacNeil and Ferrari Factory Driver Toni Vilander are fresh off a podium finish at VIRginia International Raceway and aim to keep the momentum going. The duo is prepared to finish the final sprint race strong, fueled by the cheers of Mattioli Automotive Group and Ferrari of Silicon Valley / Scuderia Corsa clients and partners in attendance. Approximately 150 guests are expected in attendance enjoying a special Ferrari VIP Hospitality Suite. Scuderia Corsa will dial in the Ferrari to the 11 turn, 2.38-mile course which famously features a corkscrew in Turn 8.
WeatherTech Raceway is known for its beautiful views and optimal weather, making it a prime event on the IMSA calendar each year. Fans enjoy luxurious accommodations, breathtaking views and excitement only motorsport can ignite.
For MacNeil nothing compares to a weekend spent racing at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
“I’m really looking forward to getting the weekend started at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca,” MacNeil said. “It’s one of the most iconic tracks we go to on the calendar. The corkscrew gives me a feeling in the car that no other corner on any other race track can replicate. There are a few passing opportunities during a lap at WTRLS so the action should be pretty exciting. With only this race and Petit Le Mans remaining, we will be looking to end the season on a couple high notes.”
For Vilander there is more than one key to winning on race day.
“We had a good run at VIR followed by a positive two-day test at Road Atlanta so I would say we’re poised to end the season on a high note,” Vilander said. “I really like Laguna Seca. I had some good runs when I raced in the GTLM Class in the past. This weekend, the prototypes are back making traffic an important part of the race. We will need to make sure we don’t lose too much time and don’t make any contact. I expect people to be aggressive with only two races remaining. Tire management is also going to be key at a track like this one.”
Scuderia Corsa takes on the Monterey SportsCar Championship two hour and 40-minute race Sunday, Sept. 15 with the green flag set to drop at 11 a.m. PT. Before the race the team will enjoy a day of practice Friday, Sept. 13 to prepare for Qualifying on Saturday, Sept. 14. The race broadcast airs at 3 p.m. ET on NBC and is live-streamed on http://imsa.com.
