The No. 53 Moorespeed Porsche 911 GT3 and driver Riley Dickinson leave Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course with two top-five finishes in the IMSA Porsche Cup GT3 Challenge USA by Yokohama after a fourth-place finish on Sunday in the second race of the doubleheader weekend.
The 16-year-old turned the fastest lap in the race trying to improve one more position late in the 45-minute timed race, running a lap of 1:24.725 (95.943 mph). Ultimately, Dickinson crossed the line in fourth.
“We just didn’t have the pace early,” Moorespeed President David Moore said. “However, Riley did not quit and gave a very strong effort all the way to the end and included the fastest lap of the race. We will go home and digest all of the data and prepare for Montreal with more determination than ever.”
The pair of top-five finishes came in Dickinson’s second weekend in cars, where he experienced his first wet race and led some laps, culminating with the fourth-place on Sunday.
“We were pushing for more, obviously, but we feel like it’s good points still,” Dickinson said. “We were still fourth. I was able to work on what I needed to do to adjust to the car. All in all it’s a good weekend, and we’ll push harder in Montreal.”
Dickinson leaves the weekend third in the point standings after four of 16 rounds in the 2019 season.
The IMSA Porsche Cup GT3 Challenge USA by Yokohama and the No. 53 Moorespeed Porsche 911 GT3 returns to action June 7-9 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, sharing the paddock that weekend with Formula One.
