The Turner Motorsport BMW M6 GT3 is set to visit the “National Park of Speed” for the eighth round of the 2019 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship on the 4.048 mile, 14 corner Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
With a streak of recent podium finishes, the Turner driver duo of Bill Auberlen and Robby Foley look to continue the team’s success at Road America this weekend. In recent years the Turner BMWs have captured victories in 2017 and 2014.
In addition to the wins at Road America, the blue and yellow BMWs have made podium visits in four out of the last seven years. Last year, Markus Palttala and Robby Foley narrowly missed a third place finish after an intense battle in the final laps of the race.
With the team’s recent win at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Bill Auberlen is within just one race of being named the most winning North American sports car driver.
The No. 96 Turner BMW sits in second place in the GTD Championship points standings following the points streak in Watkins Glen, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and Lime Rock.
“We’re looking forward to get back on track at Road America,” said Bill Auberlen. “We are going from the shortest track on the schedule to the longest on the schedule so a lot to think about going into this weekend. The Turner cars have historically been quite good at Road America so we’ll see if we can continue the trend.”
Robby Foley will join Auberlen at Road America for their first race together on the giant 4.048-mile circuit.
“Road America is one of those tracks that suits our BMW very well.” Said Robby Foley. “The track has very long, high speed corners that allow us to create a lot of down force and grip. Last year we had a solid car so I hope we can build off of that this year.”
